Cool STARTUP/CONFIG Password lost for Nortel 8x24

Help,

I need a superhero. The startup/installer/config password has been lost for my Nortel 8x24. All I have is Admin access, but I'm unable to reset the STARTUP/Installer/CONFIG password. I went through the entire Admin menu without any clues. So far I was advised to reboot the system without the DR5 module, but no avail. I get the password retry message when trying to enter **STARTUP.

My former service tech left on very bad terms. What should I do? I do not feel comfortable opening the case to tinker with the internal battery. Anyone know a better procedure?

Shorting the battery will be your best(only) solution in this case. It is not that difficult in the 8 x 24. I would recommend that you pay for a service call from a local vendor and have it done. They should not charge more than 1HR service charge.

good luck finding a vendor that is willing to do that. if you can afford it i would recommend upgrading to a Norstar CICS. if you are willing to go with a new system check out the esi systems. they are so user friendly you can direct connect or modem in and use a GUI interface program and a monkey could do your programming for you. i would use a human installer though

Send a message via Skype™ to PD
Unplug the 8x24, leave the DR5 cartridge in, leave off a few minutes and plug back in and then try the **STARTUP.

Are you sure you are using the correct password for **STARTUP?
