Bcm 50/200/400??

Our company is starting to look into the BCM line and with nothing but some knowledge I have picked up on some documentation I found from the internet I am trying to pull together some information. We are currently starting to look at a site that will need approximately 25-40 extensions and 12 lines. This is just at start they don't think we are going to do any IP phones intitally but the idea of IP trunking has them intriqued. I was curious if any of you out there could maybe give me a little advice on this subject. To me it looks like I could grow to a 12x40 on the BCM 50 with expansion modules but I don't know if this would lock us up if we ever wanted to do IP trunking or phones.

BCM 50 will do a max of 32 IP phones and a max of 12 VoIP trunks. The BCM 50 will have a practical limit of about 44 digital phones. The BCM 200/400 will support about 75 VoIP phones max and 60 VoIP trunks max. The BCM 200 will realistically support about 32 digital phones while a BCM 400 will realistically support about 128 digital phones. All the BCM's can support VoIP phones, VoIP trunks, digital and analog phones and analog and digital trunks at the same time. In the BCM 400, with about 75 IP phones you could realistically support 96 digital phones. Your example of 25-40 digital phones and 12 lines would max out both the BCM 50 and 200.

Thanks for input! I have been reading up on this and trying to gain a understanding of what is avaliable with each system. The 50 seems like a great little system however I am unclear what the 200 would be used for it is much more limiting. The only thing I could find that would be valid to use it for is if you would reuse your Norstar modules and just place a FEM in one of the card slots. Is this a possible scenerio to gain digital phones, analog phones and trunks with the fiber modules? If this were the case I could have 60 digital phones and 24 CID trunks with the BCM200.

The big difference between the 50 and 200 is IP support. 50 does 32 IP phones and 12 IP trunks while the 200 does 70 or so IP phones and 60 IP trunks. Using the 200 with a FEM is a great way to reuse Norstar fiber modules.
