Hello
I have a customer with an 0x32 w/4.1 and a Flash that was upgraded to a 4-port
They have power outages alot, if the system is down for a while they lose certain programming like Forward no Answer and the Answer Delay. however the set names are not lost.
We also have a problem with with several extentions not displaying thier Message Waiting Indicator and at one time one of the Message Waiting Indicators was displaying in spanish
any ideas?
thanks

Best bet is to install a UPS on this system and stop all this. NIP IT, NIP IT IN THE BUD!!!

A little story

there's a battery on the system, but they are located way out "in the sticks" and have long outages for some reason. We can bring the system down and reboot it and it's fine, it seems only after a long outage is when anything is lost.
The MSG indicators not working and the Spanish MSG indicator has me really lost

I have had this happen to me. I remove switch from one location and installed at customer location. I was told by Nortel that this can happen, but no reason why. Now I have a inverter in vehicle so I can plug switch in and not loose information.

I would look at getting a larger UPS that can handle the long power outages.

Good Luck!!

A little story

How large of a company are we talking about here? We were having the same problem except with option 81C...eventually had to buy a generator. We were losing power about 3 days/week! Call Center manager was not happy about that one!

Its a thought...they make all sizes of generators!

Good Luck!

Itas tip-251 dated december 02. NVRAM memory loss issue. Basically if your nvram cartrige is earlier than NTBB08GA-93 Rel 02 yours is faulty and should be replaced The enhansed units were in production Nov 8 2000. The free exchange ran out March 31 2003.
Replace the nv ram cartrige... The tip stated routing codes were affected but that was not the only info held on the NVRAM.

Most of these memory problems that Ive run across personally have been due to the memory battery located inside the 0x32 itself. This battery normally should retain all the system programming in the event of a power outage but occasionally, like all batteries are prone to do, go dead and in this case, all system programming would be lost. However, I have seen partial memory losses as well. We run into this more on AT&T/Lucent/Avaya Partner + 4.x systems than any others, but I have seen it happen in Nortel and Vodavi too. In most cases, we just replace the battery inside the unit itself and reprogram or put a UPS on it if they dont already have one.
