basic question for ya....

I just built a set in a BCM 400 but it is not showing up as Active. Now the functionality of this set is for the sole purpose of allowing someone w/o a phone to have a mailbox on the Call Pilot.

Do I need to put a phone on the port I'm using to "Activate" the DN? If so, can I then remove it and it says "Active"

Thanx,

Scott

Something like this has been discussed in this thread.

http://www.pbxinfo.com/forums/showthread.php?t=18888

If you don't get an answer from reading this, post back with exactly what you want to accoplish, there are a few ways to attack this depending on what you want to do.

Actually it's not as involved as addressed in that thread.

Basically I have an employee who needs a voicemail box at the location where the BCM/Call Pilot is located. I built the DN in BCM thinking that would be required to route the call the voicemail. Now if it was an Option PBX I could use a dummy ACD and NCFW it to Call Pilot or Phantom DN.

Am I approaching this incorrectly? I remember doing this with Norstars, and as the thread you referred to suggested, to hang a phone in the phone closet or such. I was hoping the BCM would not require that.

Thoughts?

scott,

I'm painfully aware this is an easy one with Meridian. However, with Norstar/BCM, it's either hang a set, somewhere, or if you have an analog card, an analog extension does not need a phone set to be seen by the phone system as "active".

Ok - just programmed it as an analog port. STILL not "Active".

Any thoughts? Reboot needed?
