Low Volume

I have recently installed a Nortsar Compact ICS with 4.1 restricted s/w.I set up AA and calls are routed directly to a cell phone thru the external transfer menu. Thay are now concerned with the low volume on the cell phone. They also tried doing an immediate forward on the line and it is the same result. Does anyone know if there is a known problem with low volume on conference calls or forwarded calls on the CICS 4.1 s/w?
Thanks in advance.

It is not a problem with the N*. The problem lies in the inherrent loss (7db) on each of the analog lines. The person in the midlle can hear each end, but the folks on each end are now getting a 14db loss, and the volume is low. This does not happen with digital trunks. I don't know how many times I have had to explain this to customers during my 30 some odd years in the bidness.

So if it is a carrier issue, is there any padding the CO can do to adjust the volume on the "pots" lines?

The only thing you can try is to change the settings on the CO lines to (Long CO). This may increase the volume somewhat, but no guarantee.

This was a big problem for us on several brand new CICS installs. It turned out to be the Global CID or LS/DS line card. The fix was to go back to the old line cards. The latest vintage of these cards are CID NT7B75AAAG & LS/DS NT7B69AAAC.

We did have luck with the long CO thing, but not always. Try swapping out the line card if you can.

Thank you for all the help. Is the "long co" a feature from the CO or on the Norstar?I dont remember seeing it in the Norstar programming.
