"Auto Time and Date" Warning:Rambling and Ranting ahead.

We had a CICS 6.0 in for a year or so with good ole' POTS lines and they recently switched to one of those dynamic, T-1, data, VoIP thingys (for thier dialtone). I got burned because I was there for the data cut, didn't check this auto time and date field, which, if you don't know, is under System Programming, Feature settings, auto time and date and is default ON. Customer calls back that afternoon and thier ringing service, business closed message is playing and thier time is off by 4 hours. I walked them through changing the time, and they call back 5 minutes later and they time is back to 4 hours off ??? I'm stumped, until I sorta remember a post about getting time off the network. So I have to drive back down there (45 minutes), because the IRAD won't work on those VoIP lines with the internal modem set to "Fast" (but I digress). I found the setting and I learned something.
So, this is a little slice o' life for anyone who cares. Now some questions for feedback please. Is anyone using this feature (I don't think I've ever had anyone complain about the clock on the CICS) ? What sort of lines "send" a time and date that the CICS can understand ? Why would a time, being sent by the VoIP dialtone provider be ahead by 4 hours ? GMT ?(how many CICS customers do you have that want thier time displayed as GMT) Morons ? Clue me in to this amazing new feature. Shouldn't the default be "OFF" ?
Sorry for the rant.

Auto Time and Date uses the CLID information provided by the CO on an incomming call. (Refered to as CMS features in Canada, or CLASS features in thr US.) The Caller ID information sent by the CO includes Time and Date. If a user sets time or date manually, Auto Time and Date will override the setting.

Possibly your VoIP provider's server is running GMT because it is providing "Dial Tone" to users in multiple Time Zones, and does not have the ability to provide proper time to individual users.
