Remote access via v.90 modem

Have a customer with BCM400 (3.7), and they are using DASS2 lines (in the UK).
Isdn dial up is not an option, and I am trying to connect via the on board modem. The customer has a Direct exchange line for connection. When it answers, it rejects the handshake saying username/password may be incorrect.
Under the Dial Up/Modem fields, it does not appear to give an option to 'Add' an entry.
I tried using the setting for ModemBackup and changed the password. Still fails to fully negotiate.
Do I need to specify the number(s) that I will be dialling from in the Modem parameter fields to get this working?
All previous installs have been on BRI/PRI, first time I have had to do it this way.

Regards

Is the username / password in the Dial-Up user group in User Manager?
