Location: Howell, MI Rep Power: 6 ![]() | D-channel question I'm really havin' a bad year for long drawn out, complicated, problems. Sign me up to go back to hooking up modem lines. Anyway, for your consideration; Small hometown newspaper MICS 5.0, 4.0 NAM running 8 channels of N* VM and 4 channels of Prelude Call Center with Infocus reporting. 1 additional Trunk Module with the following cards 1)LS/DS 2)LS/DS 3) 4 port DID. Only 3 DID trunks , 40 DID's. Finally to the problem When you call one of there DID's ( from the inside, from the outside, local long distance all the same). Some calls begin to ring immediately Some calls take up to 30-40 seconds to begin ringing ( which to customers is never ) this happens regularly. SBC says there trunks are o.k. There's just not that mauch programming in my switch and I'm out of ideas. Remember many calls go through just fine so its not the usual bad REC"D # or something like that. Anybody ? Also remember that even on the calls that take 30 seconds to begin ringing, if you stick it out the calls do start ringing and complete normally. Thank you. Rep Power: 7 ![]() | Trying to out phone ok, the first thing that I would try is to isolate the trouble to the switch or to the local provider. you can do that by disconnecting the DID trunks from the norstar hooking straight into the DID ports on the norstar and dialing one of the rec'd numbers. if it is a problem with the norstar, the same problem should happen. If the problem clears then you have isolated it to bell and they should get on the ball and fix it for you. another thing you can try is listening to the digits as they come into the switch like with a digit grabber or a butt set. could be a co transmit problem. __________________ Two snips, a snort, a turn, a fly, and a grunt, and it was so simple, like the jitterbug, it plum evaded me!

Pump multiple calls into switch, monitor each trunk with Butt set, this will help you find which DID trunk is the bad circuit. Good Luck!!

Location: MIAMI, FLA Rep Power: 7 ![]() | Trying to out phone I too would look at a teleco problem, it almost sounds like the CO is not getting a wink from the switch. I would make sure you are receiving traffic on all the DID trunks, if you only have 3 it shouldn't take long, after that try dialing in when all trunks are busy and see if you get a busy from the CO.

Location: Kansas Rep Power: 6 ![]() | Music on hold volume Are the delayed calls the exact same DID number? If not, the call could finally get through via DRT to prime. Just a thought. Also, DID trunks are sometimes polarity sensative. I fought one trunk that had tip and ring reversed on the demarc of all places. I hate to admit it, but it took me several days to figure that one out. The hardest problems can have the simplest solutions sometimes. MarvO said it

Location: Kansas Rep Power: 6 ![]() | headsets for Partner Phones Another good DID troubleshooting tool is to assign the DID trunks to an extra set someplace. You can't do anything with them except watch to see which trunk is failing. One of my customers kept the trunks on her set so that she could see how often they were all in use and determine if she needed to add additional trunks. MarvO said it
