what worries me about norstar

Hey all,

I have a customer with a Compact ICS 4.0 with 2 CI cards. I have been trying for 2 wks to get caller ID working for them but still no luck. I went all through programming and turned everything on for the sets and the lines, but still no Caller ID. So I contacted their Teleco vendor and they are stating that the ANI digits are being sent, that their is a problem in my switch. Is their anything in programming that I could be missing????

Please Help!!!

You know you're a stoner when...

Have you hooked a caller ID box on line from Telco? To verify that you are getting caller ID.

On a MICS only one phone per line will show the caller ID information automatically. The other phones will need to press feature 811 to see the info. On a CICS you can set it for all phones. Nortel is going to fix this disparity in the new MICS 6.0.1 software due out soon.

On the MICS, caller ID is programmed in LINES>Trunk/Line data> type is loop, and CLID set: xxx where xxx is the set you want the caller ID to come up on for inbound calls. You can make the caller ID show up on more than one phone by using a hunt group - and assign all the phones you want the caller ID to show up on (or you can use feature 811 while the call rings).

You will NOT get automatic caller ID information on the second call to a phone. If the phone is in use the next call that comes in will NOT show the caller ID information without pressing F811 and the ringing line appearance.

Good Luck!!

LD 43 Help please

Since you are working a CICS, caller ID works quit well. You can have caller ID on all sets that have the line ringing on it.
In programming, under TELCO FEATURES, make sure you turn on which sets you want caller ID info on, and set up log space if you will be logging the calls.
Also set up your call logging for each set with FEATURE 84.

Also, to check to see if the CO is sending caller ID info on the lines, take your test set and put it on a line and have someone give a call on the line. Between the first and second ring, you will hear a digital burst, that is the caller ID info being sent. Of course this works on pots lines only. I hope this helps.

Good Luck.

if you have a voicemail or AA, don't forget to set your answer at the second ring...

You can do the same thing as setting the ring to 2 in system settings, host delay.

OOPS, sorry about the blank post. Need more coffee to get the typing fingers connected to the brain.
What I was trying to say is: I thought HOST DELAY was used for outbound calls only, to make sure you had dial tone before any digits hit the line. Let me know. I can tolerate being wrong on occasion.

R1T1 Sys-Coord Guide

Check that the set appears and rings on the required line .. in addition to the programmng you have checked.
Does CLID come up when F811 invoked?
