After performing a backup on my CP100, I went to reboot (unplug, wait for 4 sec and plug back in) Then walked away for about 10 min (munchy break) and noticed that VM was not running. F981 was returning "Feature Inactive"

Looked at the CP panel and all I get are two LEDS showing, the NET and the ACTIVE like are solid, 10/100 flashed occasionally, and the two TEL ports flash quickly in slow intervals. Tried rebooting again. Same results. After about 5 times of reboots, I hooked up hyper terminal to watch the boot process and I'm getting the following response.

It will keep repeating this over and over. I have no clue as to what is happening. And of course, the sticker on our lablel says the warranty expired 2005/06 - One bloody month!! ARRGH!

Any suggestions? Will an upgrade fix this problem? I am now cluesless as I'm just primarily a Network Engineer and take care of the other side of the network.

CICS 6.1 4x16
Basic VM CP100 Configuration

Much appreicated

It's time to call your vendor. If they have and upgrade PCM card, that would be the first thing I would try. It is obvious something murph'ed during the backup. I assume you have done backups in the past with no problems, so can't say what happened this time. Please post back and let us know what the outcome was.

Strange that you would ask that. As their new Network Admin, I took over this project as I have extensive experience with the xICS product line. Getting the KSU up and running, adding cards, loading new SW, adding lines... all that stuff is great - these xICS boxes are real troupers.. but these Call Pilot units seem to be really fragile.

I personally have not performed a backup on this particular unit, though I did find a previous ST folder under a CallPilot folder on the network. It was my assumption (I know) that this had been done before. They were getting ready to make multiple A/R/C in the org, but now they've got nothin' There is no sticker on either unit for a vendor, so I will probably have to do some hunting unless anyone knows of a good vendor in the WestLA (CA) area.

After reading the manual again and again, following link after link, I did notice that you cannot have a CallManager Web page open or attempt access to the unit during a backup. There is a minute chance this happened (though no one is fessing up) - Seems to be a design flaw as the CP does not block other connections during a backup. DUH!

Thanks for the reply.
