Location: Rantoul, IL Rep Power: 6 ![]() | Hello. I have a system that I had successfully set up previously. Recently I purchased an additional line from the phone company that I only want to have for outgoing calls. I punched it down and have it tied to my Nortel Norstar. It is configured in the exact same way as my other outgoing lines as far as I can tell, but when I try to check and see if it's working, it never comes up as a possible outgoing line and there are no additional outgoing lines. I even tried tying up every outgoing line with a call and then trying to make a call from another phone and it just tells me that no other lines are free. Would someone be able to offer some advice on how to access that outgoing line, or to find out what I may have done wrong in the configuration? Thanks

Location: Rantoul, IL Rep Power: 6 ![]() | I was going to do that, but then I noticed that none of my other outgoing lines appear to be assigned to a line pool, and I don't understand how they could work that way, but that's the way they work. I do know that a line pool is being used, but where I think I would set it, none of my other lines that work have themselves assigned to a line pool The only other thing I can think of is if I was looking in the wrong area for the line pool assignments, but I'm positive I went through all the settings. So that I can see if I was going to the right area...where would you look to make the line pool assignments? I'm not at work at the moment to look at what I had been doing so that I could tell you. Oh, and thanks for the reply.....on a Sunday night even.

| There is a "line type" parameter in the line data section of programming. By default, it is set to "public" you will probably find your working lines assigned to "pool A". You could just copy the settings from an existing line to the new line. But, as HCJes pointed out, make sure you are punched down on the right pair of wires. Also, make sure that the line number you are using (in programming) is correct for the location you have terminated the line. Good Luck! | ||||||||
