I've got a user who has his Call Pilot mailbox setup to ring his cell phone; with his old phone system, he claims it rang his cell phone ONCE, then stopped. Thus, he'd have the indication that the VM system was trying to reach him for notification (and he'd see the callback number of, usually, Line 4 on his cell phone) yet it would not ring so much to a) disturb his lecture or b) roll into his cell phone's voicemail, since the indicator for the cell phone voicemail is quite loud (and would definitely interrupt his lecture audience).

So....do you think there's some tricky way to get the Call Pilot mailbox to remote notify his cell phone for a predetermined amount of time (1 ring) then disconnect? I've played alot today with setting it up as Phone or Pager and after inputting the cellphone number, tried adding Timed Pause or Wait For Dialtone characters, etc. but it still wants to ring and ring; I don't seem to be able to insert a 'disconnect' character into the dial string to make it stop ringing (e.g., 'cellphonenumber'PausePause'disconnect')

Anybody ever tried this, and/or any other crafty ways to simulate a disconnect on remote notification??

Jim

Jimbo Bebob,

Instead of using the "telephone number" feature, try the "Pager Feature" as this will disconnect once all digits are sent. And in this case the digits being Pause-Pause-Pause-9 (or whatever to get the timing down). Now rememeber, different classes of service offer different "Attempts", so you may need to edit a Class of Service that will only call once. But when it calls once and no call returned within a certain "time frame" the user will get a message saying "Unable to deliver message" or something to that effect.

Let us know how it turns out...
