My company is thinking of buying a Norstar CICS for testing our CTI products. Someone here said that when he went to a customer site a few months ago and tried hooking up one of our CTI apps to a Norstar (don't know the model: 3x8? CICS? MICS?) through a serial connection with the Norstar TAPI unit, ANI/caller ID was working okay, but DNIS/calling number was only showing the *extension* that the call was routed to, not the external originating phone number. Is this an issue with Norstar, or is it a Central Office issue? Has anyone experienced a similar problem and, if so, can you shed some light on it for me? I can't get any other details, so what I've presented you with is all the information I have to go on...

RE:

Slight correction to my last post: "...but DNIS/calling number was only showing the *extension* that the call was routed to, not the complete phone number dialled from outside."

Did they subscribe to caller-id services? If yes, did they have trunk cards in the system that supported caller-id services?

The CTA-100 (Computer Telephony Adaptor) will show whatever it is the system has to offer.

I would recommend using a Compact ICS (CICS) with ISDN BRI-U cards and the appropriate line(s) from the telco. They are cheaper and support caller-id natively.

Just my 2 cents.. But what do I know?

2250 console

So...are you saying use the ISDN BRI-U cards instead of a CTA-100?
