How to keep the message light is not turn on if you don't have a voice mail message?

Hello All,

I have run into this problem on the Avaya phone station. I have an user without a voicemail message but the message light keeps turn ON. I did the following troubleshooting for him but it's not working yet.....

1. Clear amw all xxxx (xxxx = extension number)

It works for 2 days and the problem come back again.

2. Removed the phone station and rebuilt it. Also change it to Xport and re-enter the real life port for the phone unit starts working again.

It works for a week and the problem come back again.

3. Removed the mailbox and rebuilt it.

It works for a week and the problem come back again.

I'm running out of idea what else can I do? I don't think the physical phone is bad because it's working with another extension. If anyone has any suggestions or new idea, please let me know as soon as possible.

Greatly appreciate it and thank you!

The light can also be turned on by using the Leave Word Calling feature, if this is how it was turned on checking messages will not turn it off. Try turning the light off using the LWC cancel code and see if it goes off.

You can also see who activated the light by logging into the Intuity and typing "display activity-log <station number>". The next screen will ask a date range, choose one that interests you. Now you will see a log of the MWI being turned and off. I suspect someone is playing around and the log will show this.
