Smile meet me conference calls.

hi all.

I have a q. regarding the meet me conference call. hope that someone can answer me on this one.

we got a 8700 and uses the meet-me conference rather frequently.
the thing is that it has a restriction on 6 lines, and every now and then it would be nice if it was 10 lines before it went full..

is there any possebilities that we can upgrade or expand the meet me so we can
have 10 lines in one conference..

rgds
Per Arne Ruud.

Meet Me

I think in CM version 4.0 you will have the ability to add up to I think 100 users on a single conference call. I may be off on the number some, but I know it's greater than the 6 that it is today.

I found out that it was restricted to 6 lines, and if I wanted to expand we had to upgrade our pbx,
that is not a solution right now. thanks for the answer guys,

BTW
thanks for a great site.

Extended Meet-Me conferencing is avaialable as early as CM 3. It requires a seperate s8500 server and licensing for SIP trunks and a dedicated CLAN

It works by setting up a SIP trunk and signal group and you use aar to transfer traffic to the SIP trunks

This sounds expensive. CM3 is the current release so most customers would have to upgrade to it and buy an S8500 plus licensing. Conferencing would have to be very important to justify it.

Unless I missed the announcement, CM4 is not out yet but is due soon. Our major interest in it is the announced native support for IPv6.

conference two meet_me

We have conference two meet me together. The 8700 will not let you conference two meet-me extensions, but you can log into one meet-me hit the conference button then dial the 7 digit number of another meet-me and conference them together.

In theory, you can do his up to 5 times. I think voice quality does degrade the more conferences you add, but one or two will work well
