Question CS1000m to asterisk PBX using sip

I'm not sure if i should post this in the Nortel forum or the Asterisk forums so i'm going to cross post in both

we have a CS1000m which we have just gone to inbound SIP trunks on
we are looking to connect via sip to a Asterisk server(pbx in a box) to act as a call pilot like system / IVR

I've seen post where people the hand of back and forth using sip trunks between the 2 systems but no really good explanations as to how to do it

I have access to Nortel experts but they do not have any Asterisk experience

I would be greatful if some one can tell me how to do this and or point me to a tutorial that shows what need to be dont to acomplish what we need

thanks you.

Send a message via Skype™ to AsteriskExpert
Hi JHopwood,

I don't have Nortel experience, just Asterisk but if you can get the Nortel box to place a call to the Asterisk IP address over SIP when it needs to leave a voicemail for someone, the Asterisk box just needs an entry in the sip.conf, extensions.conf and voicemail.conf to accept the call, and send it to the appropriate mailbox.

I am not sure off the top of my head how you would notify the nortel users their are voicemails waiting for them but a workaround would be to have Asterisk email voicemail messages to end users.

Good luck,

Sean

If you want the Asterisk server to be used as a Callpilot server for CS1000 system then you need to configure the call routing in the Nortel system saying that if the call is not picked up for so many ring go to Asterisk server via sip trunk, in Asterisk make the voicemail to answer the call.

incoming via sip Trunk ------- Nortel ----sip trunk------ Asterisk voicemail
