Problems with the outgoing calls.

Hello, im having problems with my asterix server, using freepbx and, in another computer, a skip2pbx server.

The internal and incoming calls work perfectly but when trying to make an outgoing call i notice that it doesn't work properly.

Sometimes the call connects, but most of the times it says that the number is unavailable or it connects but then it gives the "busy" tone.

Does anyone know what might be wrong? Please tell me if you need more information.

Thanks,
Cristian.

Unfortunately, there are a lot of things that could be causing this. I would start by looking at logs on both sides. Do you have the ability to see in a log the connection being established, or better yet, any error messages that are being shown when the connection doesn't go through?

Things to look for:

Who is playing the busy signal? Asterisk/Local or skip2pbx/Remote.
Are you using SIP for the trunk?
Is either server directly on the internet? (Sip doesn't like to be doubled NAT'd behind firewalls)
Do you see the trunk connection being registered on both sides?

Hi Cristian,
I know Skip2PBX very well, I worked with it as you are doing with Asterisk and it is working well.

You should try to use a trusted connection instead of a registered connection. It worked for me!

Just log-in the web interface and go to Hardware + SIP, open you connection and change the authentication mode to "Trusted (IP based)", fill in your Asterisk IP and save.

Bye!
