Should be no problem, as it is an IP Based system. Probably the easiest way would be to create SIP trunks. I couldn't open the features document on nec.co.uk's site, so I don't know what protocals it supports.

As with any multi-pbx systems, if you are going to be using a different extension range for each system, then it should be simple to create the routing between them. But, if you are planning on using the same extension range, be prepared for a management nightmare, as you have to manually setup routing for each extension.

Not exactly. And I didn't see anything obvious from a Google search. I can't tell you specifically, because I don't know how to administer NEAX 2000. I have a feeling you might not find information because the concept is very common and experienced administrators will already know how to do it.

Creating a SIP trunk on Asterisk is easy. I found more details on the NEAX 2000 that says it can support 8 SIP trunks. So, you should just need to create a SIP trunk that points at the asterisk machine, then create a SIP Trunk on the Asterisk mahince that points at the NEAX 2000.

Then, create routing rules to direct calls across the trunk on each side. If this isn't enough details to get you started, please explain a little more about your system, and your current role with that system. If you don't know how to create a SIP trunk on the NEAX 2000, check the manual and see if it explains how. If you need further information on creating the SIP trunk in Asterisk, what "flavor" of Asterisk are you using and I can try to direct you to proper information. When I say "flavor" I mean, did you hand build the asterisk server on something like CentOS, or are you using a "canned" version like Trixbox or AsteriskNOW?

No, CentOS is fine. But if you don't have a lot of Linux experience, or Asterisk experience, I would suggest you take a look at Trixbox 2.2.4, which also uses CentOS but has a lot of nice GUIs to help you along.

Do you know if there is a PDF version of the admins manual for the NEAX 2000 available online? If so, please provide a link and I will take a look and see if I can walk you through creating a SIP trunk on the NEAX 2000. And then also walk you through creating a SIP trunk on Asterisk.

Hi,
I have a lot of experience about NEAX 2000 IPS, and the best chance to make it work with asterisk is to use SIP IPTRUNK, wich is available since release 12.

But it may be expensive.

You can also try with H.323 wich can be used from earlier releases, I have one IPS running against a VoIPSwitch by software and it work fine.

Similar cost.

If you need help with the data programming please let me know.

Sorry for my english I rather spanish.
