Rep Power: 3 ![]() | Trixbox 2.0 Just finished downloading it and am going to be installing it on a brand new system running a TDM400P (2 FXO). Has anyone used this version, what do they think, and what should I look out for? EDIT: Bah, already wiped it off and installed 1.2.3. I need stability, and don't have time to test all the features I use on 2.0 now. If anyone else knows of a reason to go with 2.0 over 1.2.3, please let me know. Rep Power: 3 ![]() | No, they just changed the setup interface enough that I didn't want to waste time trying to get a new system setup (that is headed for a customer) and just hope that a new x.0 release is really not a beta..

Rep Power: 3 ![]() | Well, I'm running a VMWare image and giving it some time.. As usual, they have added stuff to the web interface that only clutter it up (like links to their forums, etc). After stuggling through the module installer, which doesn't really make any sense to me, but whatever.. the page isn't working very well, text it writing ontop of other text.. So, I installed a bunch of modules and now have to play with them for a while. I do like some of the 3rd party features like PIN (not that I or any of my customers will ever use them) but they are nice to have if ever needed. But, most x.0 releases are questionable, and I personally would never put one into production. I'm going to play with the system to see if I can find any bugs and just get it working like the rest of my systems. Edit: Ok, the "page isn't working very well" is due to me using Firefox which means the pages are written crappy. The areas that you should be able to set admins, trunks, extensions, etc.. normally you see a list in the upper right corner, well, on my screen, they are inside a tiny frame that you can't see anything in, and have to scroll around. I tried using IE and had different problems. Last edited by jzawacki; 02-09-2007 at 12:57 PM.

Rep Power: 3 ![]() | I'm now running 2.2.4 on my installs. Everything seems to be working fine. I updated my driver update how to for TDM400P cards, it is available at Trixbox 2.2.4 with TDM400P card. It is still an overview, as I didn't go into adding all the modules for IVR, Voicemail, Music on hold, etc.

Rep Power: 3 ![]() | Looks like I jumped the gun on this one I'll have to test with a fresh install, but if you do a 'yum -y update' it breaks music on hold for sure, if not more. The current fix is to copy one of the provided .mp3s to LICENSE.mp3 Also, the festival text-to-speech is pretty messed up as well. At least, the original weather AGI can't seem to get the text converted fully. And if you have built any AGI's using the same methods (calling the festival-script.pl) they also don't work.

Rep Power: 4 ![]() ![]() | I am playing with Trixbox CE 2.0 and so far it has not been much different than 1.x I played with earlier. Looks fairly straight forward, easy to get a phone registered, vm, etc. I will let you know if I find any issues. __________________ Life is a highway....

Rep Power: 3 ![]() | From what I have found, out of the box works fine. It is when you do a 'yum update' and get the latest packages, that they do not seem to have any kind of QA control. I have started installing 2.2.4 and not doing any yum updates. But, the last problem I have found is that trixbox isn't even maintaining the repositories properly. Last 2.2.4 install, I wanted to update the Digium drivers, which require you have the kernel headers and source installed. doing a 'yum install kernel-devel' came back not being able to find them. I'm really beginning to look forward to AsteriskNOW maturing to a usable platform and thinking about building my own package. In business, it is very important to be able to maintain the systems. I am starting to get the feeling that Trixbox is sabotaging the CE branch to drive commercial businesses like me to the Pro branch. I'll switch to something else, or building my own, as Trixbox isn't really anything more then just a bunch of packages put together for you, before I pay for a Pro version that doesn't offer me anything more then raising the prices for my customers.
