Rep Power: 0 ![]() | My 2 cents Ex Altigen employee (albeit 6 years ago) here and have to say in comparison to the other software PBX's I have worked with it's a great product for both reliabilty, functionality and ease of use. I don't think it's well suited to the UK market but in the US I think it's a great product. I wouldn't want to compare it with other soft switches on here (just take my word for it it's the best The NEC is more reliable. It simply doesn't go wrong. All the clever stuff however is done using the Zeacom server. On a recent technical training course on the product I had to sit through half a days "features and benefits". All the other engineers were amazed at the products capabilities. For the record Zeacom does less than Altiserv did 6 years ago and does it less reliably. Zeacom's product is sold not only for NEC but also CISCO and AVAYA. The bottom line is that two things seperate these products. If an Altigen system crashes you're dead in the water. If a Zeacom system crashes (and it will) at least you still have dial tone. If I was back in the states looking for a new phone system I would look no further than Altigen.

Rep Power: 0 ![]() | We are UK resellers for the AltiGen system and have started to have good success here in Europe. You are right in that the system has great features and is easy to use and manage. SO if you want to rethink about using AltiGen in UK or other European countries let us know

Rep Power: 0 ![]() | altigen experience We have been selling this product for the past 4 or 5 years and within the last 12-18 months it has taken off. My business has been selling telephone systems, data networks and cabling for the past 24 years. We sell only the best of breed products, Cisco, NEC Elite and 2000, 2400 series...not the cheap Nitsuko product and the Altigen. We sell the Altigen, NEC and the Cisco for different reasons. The Altigen is tough to beat if you are using call center, VoIP or CTI...it is very strong. In the past 3 months we have sold several multiple site systems and they work flawless. Our customers are like a little cult...they love them and are happy to spread the news. We spend a lot of time designing and training the admin and end users. If you take the extra time to support them and teach them about the system...they will love it. ![]()

Where does Altigen compete? __________________ -=Welcome to PBXInfo=- -Become a PBXInfo Supporter -Get more PM Space, Profile Picture, a Signature -Add yourself to Pbxinfo's Frappr -Find Nortel Software

Location: Rhode Island Rep Power: 0 ![]() | My $0.02 Never used or heard of Altigen until i started here 18 months ago. Have to say that while there are some quirly issues with the system, I have few other complaints. The manuals are simple, but descriptive enought to help with almost any problem i have encountered. The user interfaces for both the admin console and the client app are intuitive and easy to use. We have 2 systems at seperate offices tied together through VoIP and it works great. Dial an extension at the remote office, and there are no quality issues or problems. In short, I like the Altigen! I would even recommend it!

What made you choose Altigen over Shoretel? You asay it is the superb admin interface but when the shoretel salesmen visted I was blown away with how easy and simple the admin was! Also don't your phones have Qos? I don't see why they should have cutting in and out regardless of bandwidth usage.

Location: Las Vegas Rep Power: 0 ![]() | I'm running Altigen Office3G with about 100 IP710 phones in two physical locations joined by Point to Point T1 and connected to a full PRI T1 for about a year now. I have to say that while I don't know what to do with ALL the various configuration screens, the moves/adds/changes (MACs) are incredibly easy to perform and the UI is fairly intuitive. It's miles ahead of the Nortel system we used to have, and I think the voice quality is even better.

Location: Vancouver (not B.C.) Washington (not D.C.) Rep Power: 0 ![]() | I just stumbled into this thread while researching an issue and thought I'd join and say hello. I bought the first AltiGen system for my company in 2002 for a satellite office. We were moving to a new office and expanding beyond what our phone system could handle, so I was forced to buy a new system. I decided to take us in the direction of VoIP so I could one day tie the two company phones together. After a several month search and a lot of research I finally went with an Altigen Small Business system. I have never regretted that decision. In 2005 I convinced our Board of Directors to spend the money and upgrade our main offices to an Altigen Office 3G server. We have 10 IP705 / 132 analog phones in our main office and 18 IP705 / 24 analog in our branch office. In our main offices we are about to expand into a new building across the alley from our existing location, and we're out of analog lines into the Altigen, so we're going all VoIP. I've invested in Layer 2 switches with POE so that the phones are powered from the server room (which is on generator) rather than from the desktop. I'd be more than happy to share whatever I have learned about Altigen in this forum.
