I have some basic questions for you.

If you could tell us what system you have and what method you would use to login into the system would be of great help to us to help you.

I maintain 4400 OmniPCX, I can log into the system two different ways.
1. Using 4760 (recently upgraded from 4730, this is an Alcatel Program) - Which is a GUI intereface so no commands are needed.
2. I telnet into the system and use MGR, which uses a hierarchy (tree) to make changes on the system, not command based either.

I don't know about the Avaya but I also work on Siemens/GPT ISDX-L and sn which is purely command based and a Siemens Hicom which can use either a GUI or command based programming.
