Ring tone / dial tone cadences

Slightly similar problem,

My site has a reason to temporarily use a BT Response 75 answerphone attached to an analogue extension, due to non-availability of voicemail.

The answerphone doesn't seem able to recognise Alcatel OXE's ring tone, so the answerphone never answers.

I'm therefore interested to find out how to edit Alcatel's ring tone cadence.

Thanks.

When you plug in an analogue telephone does it ring at all?

BT Problem with BT Response 75 answerphone plugged into Alcatel analogue port

The answerphone does not ring when called, but it is possible to hear a relay clicking inside the answerphone in synchrony with the expected ring tone.

(The answerphone is connected through a PABX Master voice adaptor, so there is a ring capacitor in the circuit).

The same answerphone behaves normally when plugged into a BT external line, and rings when called.

Thanks, goldberg

When you plug a standard analogue phone in does it work both ways, can you make and receive calls?

If the phone doesn't ring can you get someone to ring that extn and for yourself to pick it up and answer.

Have you taking a d/l of the system to see what the setting is for that particular extn, ie fax or standard?
