4400 QSIG over IP

Hi, I've joined a company who have a few 4400 systems in Spain and I'm looking at connecting those to systems in the UK. I know the 4400 supports QSIG (and ABC which is a superset of QSIG but only for Alcatel systems) over copper cabling but I want to know if it supports QSIG over IP. The systems that I have in the UK support this but I can find nowhere that officially says that it supports it or not.

Does anyone know if the 4400 supports QSIG over IP?

Thanks

Maybe I should simplify the question.....I'm looking at linking several Alcatel 4400 systems in Spain to other systems in the UK. These could include Nortel Meridian, Avaya Communications Manager etc.

What standards does the Alcatel 4400 support that would enable it to talk to other systems and supply information like CLI, Name Display, Message Waiting etc?

Is it possible at all? Or will the Alcatel 440 only talk to other 4400s in this way?

Thanks

Well
Keeping in mind all that SIP stuff...Never heard of QSIG over IP for OXE.

For talking with other vendor's PABX OXE supports classic QSIG-GF.
There some fearutes supported on H323 and SIP. Do not have a list of what exactly is supported - these standards are changing.

Maybe you should use ISDN ETSI protocol , which is more widely used.

Hi galexioy, I don't want to use standard ETSI/QSIG over copper. This would require having permanent fixed circuits between all sites (from UK to Spain) and have expensive monthly costs attached. We have existing VPN links between all sites and putting voice over those links would mean free calls. With this, we require features like name display, CLI etc that QSIG supplies.

After doing some digging and reading, it looks like SIP will be supporing feautures like these.

Does anyone know if the 4400 supports SIP?

Thanks in advance

Hi there. I don`t know if 4400 supports SIP, however if you implement somethying like this, you should take in mind that in case of incompatibility, you could use a sipura 3000 or AVM fritz box ata as an incoming analogue trunk to the PBX for this system, in order to support SIP. several ATA`s could be used to increase simultaneous active calls...
I also think that the cost of these units is low!

Sure OXE supports SIP with CLIP/CNIP, CLIR, COLP/COLR, Call Hold, Enquiry/ Broker Call, DTMF transparency etc.

Excuse my ignorance about Alcatel systems but I know there's a difference between the 4400 and the Enterprise. The 4400 was the older system and the Enterprise is the new system.

What you call the OXE is the Enterprise, correct?

I defintitely know the Enterprise supports SIP. We have old 4400 systems? Is it a matter of a software upgrade to turn it an Enterprise? Or is it a hardware change?

Thanks

Actually there was rebrending in 2001.
First it was "Alcatel 4400", then (in 2001) "Alcatel OmniPCX Enterprise 4400".
Now it is just Alcatel OXE.
So as you pointed out it is better to talk Releases.
In OXE SIP started since Release 5.0Lx

That's great. I'll ensure the 4400s in Spain are upgraded to at least that version and as long as we have systems in the UK that support SIP then we should be able to get the 2 talking together.

Cheers
