If it is OmniPCX Office then default IP address is 192.168.92.246.
Just connect 4035 set to the first UA (digital) interface - you will see what to do next.

Talking Omni

I connected up to the system then restored the customer data however the moment i disconnect from the software and the system does a soft boot, it reverts back to factory default again.

Could i have a faulty CPU?

Is there an internal battery or Flash Card/SD Card where the customer data is stored so when it boots up it reads of it.

I am yet to try making a simple change from factory default and then try and do a soft reset to see whether the change sticks.

My gut feeling is that there is corruption in the database i am restoring but the funny thing is if i dont reset the system works as it should with the correct data in it.

Also i must say the system takes quite some time to start and get going. Most of the time around an average of 10mins after a soft reset. That is why i haven't been able to do a great deal of fault finding as they loose business everytime i reset.

anyway looking forward to some advice. Thanks in advance VV

I would say - no
99% such problems in OXO - software. Which exact SW version your system runs?May be you need to install newest version?

Sure there is flash memory.

That's normal for OXO

Do you guys know how to physically do a factory reset on an OmniPCX Enterprise?

This is how I lost access to the unit:

Trying to resolve the "rights" issue, I did add a host (my management pc) in the Trusted Hosts using telnet and lost the box completely. I don't have access using serial port either. I rebooted and doesn't respond anymore. The only thing I see is that it responds to my ARP.

Do you know how to do a complete factory reset on this piece of crap?

This is the log of what I did:

########################################

[root@cpu_oxe /root]# netadmin
Warning: for a specific setup please use menu mode (netadmin -m).

Do you want to erase the existing setup (y/n default is 'n') ? y

Do you intend to use IP/X25 on your system (y/n default is 'n') ? n

Warning: the node name must be unique.
Enter node name (default is node000000) ?

Do you want to activate internal name resolver (y/n default is 'n') ? n

Enter local CPU position (a or b) for duplicated configuration
or n for single CPU (default is 'n') ? n

Ethernet interface setup
========================

CPU name (default is cpu_oxe) ?

CPU address (default is 192.168.1.12) ?

Network mask (default is 255.255.255.0) ?

Default router setup
====================

Do you use an external gateway as default router (y/n default is n) ?

Please wait, working ...

The setup has been correctly achieved.

Security
========

Do you want to enhance security (y/n, default is y) ?
Cannot open data file /tmp/netdata.ins

Enter the type of the trusted host(s) :
0. Router, other applications
1. CPU
2. 47xx (management machines)
3. IP equipments (IP-Phone, INTIPA/INTIPB, GD, LIOE...)
4. PC Installer
What is your choice ? 2

Trusted host's IP name ? toolbox

The name you gave isn't in our hosts database. Do you want to add it and so
give the corresponding address (y/n default is 'n') ? y

Trusted host's IP address ? 192.168.1.254

The Internet address you gave hasn't a correct format. You must give four numbers between 1 and 254 and separated by '.' .

Trusted host's IP address ? 254

Gateway's IP name ? netscreen

The gateway's name you gave doesn't belong to the trusted hosts's list.
First add the gateway as a trusted host and then add this host.

Restricted access

1. 'View trusted hosts'

2. 'View associated services'

3. 'Add a trusted host'

4. 'Add a range of trusted hosts'

5. 'Update type of a trusted host'

First, you shouldn't activate security.May be later when you have clear picture of what is needed. Get serial cable connect to config (V.24) port and run netadmin again without security.
