Location: Cape Town Rep Power: 0 ![]() | Please help me with an installation and configuration of the equipment, i bought it secondhand with only the switchboard and the rack, no manuals. I have a small business and only need to setup 2 extensions. The rack has a AMIX 4/4/8-1, APA 4 and a CPU-3. Thank you

Phone lines are connected to the Analogue Trunks on the AMIX card, digital phones to the Digital Interfaces and analogue phones (cordless, fax etc.) to the Analogue Interfaces. Configuration may be a little harder, especially without manuals, admin software etc. You should be able to get it up to a basic functionality quite easily using an operator handset (Advanced Reflexes or more likely considering it is a CPU3, a 4039). See if you can get it running and everything connected. Post what handset types you have and hopefully we can "talk" you through basic set up. Alternatively, try and find an Alcatel dealer in your area and ask them to come and do it for you.

The system will the reboot and reset itself to factory default settings. Once it has rebooted the Advanced handset should now show Define System Config, go through this and paying make sure you select the correct number of lines in the main trunk group. The system should now make calls via the first connected lines by first dialling the default line select code, 0 or 9 depending on your country. It may be worth getting a dealer in to fine tune things for you afterwards.
