Letter to Comdial Support

Below I have copied the e-mail I have sent to customersupport@comdial.com, but I have a feeling that I will get no response or furthermore no cooperation (based on the fact that e-mail to webmaster@comdial.com bounces).

-------------------------------------------------------------------

Hello,

Although I am not officially a Charter Member, I need to be able to download the PC-DBA software as indicated throughout the support materials provided with the DX-80. The company from whom I purchased the DX-80 did a less-than satisfactory job configuring the unit and I need to reconfigure the system to meet the needs of the law firm I am supporting.

I do not wish to hire another company to do the configuration and having read all of the support materials available for the DX-80, combined with my 20 years of systems administration experience with Motorola (both voice and data), I am more than qualified to run the software without the need for technical support. I understand the liability that I am facing when using the software and furthermore release you or your members from any liability or obligation to support the software.

Furthermore, I would like to point out that part of my decision to purchase the DX-80 was based on the fact that the software to configure the system was available as a free download from the Comdial website. At no time was I informed that the software would require a Charter Membership or authorization. For this reason, should you deny this request for free access to the software to configure my DX-80, I will be forced to reconsider my purchase and furthermore to investigate my options not only for returning the unit purchased under false pretense, but also to consider a request for compensation for my law firm's loss of time and productivity--the direct result of false advertising and misleading claims made by your support materials.

Because the software was readily available for download until recently, I have faith that you will see to it to provide the software so long as I agree that any support for using the software as well as any further configuration help can only be provided by a Charter Member--releasing you from liability should I have problems.

As you can imagine, time is of the essence as I am trying to reconfigure my DX-80 before the end of the week. A password to access the Charter Member Website would be ideal, but I would also gladly accept a download link to the various software versions for any/all software used by my DX-80. I appreciate your time and consideration and eagerly await your response.

Please also note that a copy of this request is being posted not only in the PBXInfo Forums, but also in several other forums as well as my professional blog. Your reply will accompany this post.
