For most Brooktrouts your line side T1 should be programmed as D4/AMI. I hear some of the newer Brooktrouts will work as B8ZS/ESF. Verify with that vendor what they will support.

The DS1 should be populated with 24 stations of the type DS1FD and then these put in one or more hunt groups, depending on how this solution is being implemented. My experience with companies that sell FAX servers is that they know what the settings should be in the PBX, it is in their best interests to know this. FAX servers with Brooktrouts in them do have some extensive testing capabilities and they should be able to tell you what is wrong.

Test the DS1 board with the following command "te bo xxxxx (board location) long". You can cancel the test after test 146 completes. What fails?
