I think the things look dorky and will not have one, but those that have them probably think that they look cool and signify that the wearer is technologically up to date...and of course, has 'bling'.
Sort of like pagers did 30 years ago. On my first 'real' job out of high school, I printed reports in a data center. There was a guy there that used to hang out at the local watering hole where, supposedly, nurses and doctors from a large hospital in town hung out. In an effort to look cool and impress the nurses that he so relentlessly hit on, he carried not only his company pager, but also one that he got from somewhere else. The story around work was that he carried 2 pagers, so he could look like one of the doctors and pass himself off as a doctor to the nurses. I guess that 2 blue tooth thingys make you twice as important, just as 2 pagers would.
