| Here is some old info from CallPilot 1.07. If it sound workable you could check to see if it works with newer CallPilot versions. The application is known as "FAX Call Screening", implemented after the installation of PEP 60S. This requires the User's DID Telephone Number be removed from their Telephone and reprogrammed as a Phantom TN in the Meridian 1. These Phantom TNs will be programmed for Default Call Forward (DCFW), PLUS HUNT/FNA to the FAX Channels on CallPilot. (The DCFW will prevent extra RINGS for these calls; the HUNT/FNA will serve as a back up should the DCFW become deactivated) This feature is NOT available to Multiple Appearance DNs; due to the limitation imposed by Phantom TNs. The User's DID Telephone Number will be replaced on the Telephone by a Non-DID Number. [EXAMPLE: DID Number 3208; Non-DID Number 5208. Note that it is not necessary to 'mirror' these numbers as shown in the example, but it may simplify administration of these numbers as you go forward. The Non-DID number, must obviously fit within the Meridian 1 dialing plan.] ALL CALLS for this FAX Call Screening application , must be directed to FAX Channels on CallPilot. Therefore, it may require additional FAX Channels to accommodate your required traffic levels. The FAX Call Screening process takes approximately 1.5 rings to detect the FAX tone. Therefore, voice calls will hear this ring back tone, in addition to the ring back when the call is presented to the set. The flow of the call is: DID number is dialed Call is forwarded to CallPilot FAX Channel CallPilot will 'answer' the call to determine if FAX tone is present. [NOTE: While CallPilot answers the call, the Caller will continue to hear RINGBACK TONE] If FAX Tone is present, the call is deposited in the called parties multi-media mailbox (voice and fax). If FAX Tone is NOT present, the call is redirected to the Non-DID Number assigned to the Telephone of the intended recipient and the phone will ring normally. In the case the called party is busy on the phone or is not at their desk; assuming they HUNT/FNA to CallPilot the call will be directed back to CallPilot and deposited in the called parties mailbox. (Note that the set will need to HUNT/FNA/CFW to a mixed service DN for voice/fax call answering that uses a FAX channel). [NOTE: To insure there is only one mailbox for both Voice and FAX Messages, the called parties Non-DID Number will be associated with the SAME MAILBOX as the DID Number. This is a standard feature capability of CallPilot] As you can see, the above requires some additional administration and can be set up for selected users. Additionally, for internal callers (voice calls) to the FAX Users, you may wish to have them dial using the Non-DID Number. Finally, PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING LIMITATIONS relating to calls from the telephone sets using the FAX Call Screening application: When a user calls another extension (or externally someone with Call ID if CLID=YES) the display will show the Desktop DN (rather than the advertised voice/fax DN, unless the CLID info in the set datablock is set to show the DID number). When a user leaves a call answering message for a user on a different messaging system, the Caller ID (if captured) will be the users Desktop DN, not their voice/fax DN. However, messages left to other users on the same CallPilot system will have the correct envelope. (Again, unless the CLID in the set datablock is set to show the DID number) Requires one additional phantom DN for each with voice/fax DN service. May require additional fax channels on CallPilot. |
