Hi Everybody,

It could be a stupid question but I got very confused after a deeply looked in NTP.

Let's suppose we have a Succession 1000 :
- 1 Signalig Server , 1 CSE , Media Cards, Media Gateways , etc.
- I2002 : DN 2001, TN:77-1, IP: 192.168.100.1 (1*)
- I2002 : DN 2002, TN:77-2, IP: 192.168.100.2 (2*)
- SigServer , Node 111, IP: 192.168.100.100 (TLAN)
- SigServer is TPS but not GK , and is Master Leader elected.

After call setup , voice is IP1 to IP2, ok !
Call Setup , NTP says :
2001 call 2002 :
- 2001 is signaling (TLAN, Unistim) to Sig Serv ,
- SigServer -> (ELAN) CSE
- CSE is taking decision if 2001 is allowed to dial 2002 and if 2002 exits
- 2001 is establishing call setup to 2002
????

MY QUESTION :
Who resolve IP to TN translation ? or IP to DN ?
Where is table kept ? In SigServ or CSE ?

Normally , the Gatekeeper should map DN to IP, BUT THE DEFINITION OF SIGNALING SERVER AS GATEKEEPER IS REGARDING ONLY H.323 ENDPOINTS , as I undestand, external endpoints (other systems). The TPS service is registering the IP phones to the system but is not doing the GK job. If you are looking in GK servieces (Sniff and debug them) no phone registration request come to these services. If GK is enabled, and use it for IP H.323 Trunks to other SigServers or other vedor's products, in GK table we can see only pure H.323 endpoints to the other endpoints but not Nortel IP Phones (which is normal becasue they use Unistim).

Hope somebody could clarify me !

Thank you ,
ComanC
