The Norstar product line started in 1988. Look at the Nortel tag which shows the model number and some other information on when it was manufactured. Remember refurbed phones can be very old and you just don't know what you're getting. All I can say is to call back the distributor where you bought them and tell them your problem and that you want them replaced, again. But also remember that most refurbed distributors aren't bound to provide you compatible phones, thats why they are so cheap. Best bet, put in a couple of extra bucks and get the T series phones. Even refurbed on those will work as they didn't start manufacturing those until DR 5.0 was out. Also, the T series sets are easier to label. I use an excel spreadsheet and then use a razor and metal ruler to cut them out.

In the end you will get screwed when buying from a refurbed distributor.
