This would be the simplest, most cost effective way to accomplish what you want.

One that I've seen used quite alot, set up the way sheerhunk says, is called a "beehive" lamp (due to its resemblance to a beehive). Suttle makes one (Model SE-15) with different colored lenses. Other manufacturers have variations on the same thing and pretty much any electrical supply house should have them.
