How secure is VoIP?

I can see security becoming an issue as it becomes more popular.

Thing is, if all ports are switched then the listener would have to be on the common backbone to filter out traffic. If not they may get a conversation, they may not.

Encryption will potentially add too much delay if the network designers don't build in overhead for it.

DoS and other network attacks will be a threat but I hear if you seperate the voice and data into seperate VLANs with distinctly different address ranges the threat is cut down quite a bit, especially with some form of QOS limiting how much bandwidth the data side can take over.

It will be a fun ride once we get going.
