Thanks for the story,

That will stink if we have to start paying taxes on VoIP it defeats the whole purpose of it, people aren't switching to it because its better or clearer... They use it because its cheaper, plain and simple.
Not to mention you don't have the headache of figure out what surcharge is for what on you bill. It is starting the whole process again of telecom billing nightmares one step at a time.

If the states do get a hold of it, kiss simplisity away.

Let the FCC mandate and regulate it, keep the states greedy fingers off of it, to at least allow it to grow and develop.
