Ok, this one has been frustrating me for a while.
This should be simple ... but I cannot get it to work at all
I want to use translation patterns to allow special numbers which go to a person's mobile. i.e. if one dials *2345 it expands out to 907363254262 (made up UK mobile number) and the person's mobile is dialled.
So,I set up a translation pattern, *2345. and told the Cisco to discard 'PreDot' digits and prefix with 907363254262 ... This appears to work, in that the correct destination number then appears on the phone (so the translation pattern is working), but it completely fails to connect and I can't figure out why
I have tried several things:
- added the translation pattern to the MOBILE calling search space, which it matches once translated (failed)
- played about with classifying the call as 'OffNet' and 'OnNet' (neither worked)
- put the pattern in its own partition and added that to the calling search space (failed)
I have put Trace on on my handset but it tells me very little that I can understand, to be frank ... I have no idea what's going on
Apparently this should be 'simple'!!!
As an alternative how would I set up 'phantom' extensions that are permanently call forwarded to the mobiles? Perhaps I'm doing it all wrong...
edit to add: yes I'm doing it all wrong ... all I have to do is setup handsets on nonexistent MAC addresses ... Ahh ... I'm off into work later to try this
