The Norstar VOIP Gateway from Nortel is just a POTS-to-IP bridge. Its ports act like CO lines (loop start FXS ports). You connect them to trunk ports on the Norstar. The Norstar just thinks it's talking to the public phone network. So you can have as many VOIP Gateway units as you have trunk port capacity.
