Just pulled an NEAX 2000 IPS system from a subsidiary

Hi,
We closed a subsidiary firm which we bought. I'm in the process of downloading all of the manuals for this system, but thought I would ask the experts a question before I start reading all of this material: Is it pretty simple to set this up just to communicate between extensions?
Yes, believe it or not, all I plan to do with this is to facilitate communications at short-lived events between workers separated by maybe 600 to 700 feet. Maybe five or six phones. That's it.
I am assuming, and this could be a fatal assumption, that somehow the programming is preserved in this unit even when the battery is pulled. NVRAM?? Hopefully? If so, then I should be able to use the previous programming to ring extensions based on how they were assigned. If not, which manual should I start reading first?
If this unit turns out to not be so useful, is there any resale value for it? There's about 35 phones along with it.
This is a very civil board. I haven't seen this level of courtesy and helpfulness in many years. Congrats to you all.
