No, rix. Icy's blonde
ANYWAY...as my 8th grade report stated:
Iceland was founded by the Nordic tribes who were sailing west in search of new lands. Finding Iceland to be a pleasent palce, allowing for a grand setelment, they named it Iceland as to deter others from flocking to the island and thus overpopulating it (which would use up nessisary resources)
Greenland, in contrast, was ALSO setteled initially by the norse (Eric the Red, I belive) However, the settlements he started (I belive there were at least 2) were not successfull due to the lack of needed resources to make the rather rocky and cold island popular. He changed the name to Greenland in hopes of attracting more settelers...
Didn't work, of course.
(OK....ICY, how much of this did I remember correctly?)
