NEC Addresses Questions Regarding Sale of Expanets to Avaya With the recent announcement regarding the sale of Expanets to Avaya, NEC America recognizes that many NEC customers will have questions regarding this transaction. To ensure that we provide the highest level of support, we have provided some answers to many of the questions that you may have. We have also provided a method for you to submit any additional questions to the professionals at NEC America, who will provide a prompt response to you and remain focused on ensuring that you receive the necessary support for your NEC communications system.
Now that Avaya has purchased Expanets, will NEC recognize Avaya as an authorized NEC dealer?
After careful consideration of the acquisition by Avaya, NEC has elected not to offer a dealer relationship to Avaya. However, NEC is committed to serving the customers who have made an investment in NEC’s technology and will continue to provide support either directly or through other authorized dealers. We will work with Avaya to complete projects currently underway and work with them to minimize any customer isues. (back to top)
Will the Expanets technicians who currently support my NEC product have access to NEC’s National Technical Assistance Center (NTAC)?
Because Avaya will not be an authorized dealer, the technicians who will be part of this new organization will not have access to the NTAC. Will NEC provide service and MAC direct to customers?

If Avaya sells the non-Avaya (NEC) base to a third party, will NEC support that third party as an authorized NEC dealer?

If I choose to begin acquiring services from a company who is no longer part of Expanets or Avaya and they are not an authorized dealer, will NEC void my warranty?
