Now I know you think you understand what OBT is saying to you but take it from me you don’t. 1. Keep this in the back of your mind! There is not an XDP port on the Handset!! It is a DXDP digital extra device port. 2. How this works is dependent on the type of extension card it is connected to. If it is connected to a 16dlc a single pair of wires is used from your wiring frame system side to power the 7633 ext the handset itself creates a second ext and presents it at the DXD port to run a second 7633. 3. However if using a DHLC card the wiring on your wiring frame system side is different each port requires 3 pairs of wires to run. So in this case the first pair will run the analogue ext the second pair will run the 7633 handset and the third pair will run the digital extra device i.e. a second 7633. 4. these don’t actually require the handset in place to test because all 3 pairs need to be running at the (desk wall socket) if you unplug the handset from the wall and test the wall socket you would find 5. 16DLC (1 pair of wires with power)= digital ext 6. 8DHLC (3 pairs of wires with power) = digital ext, analogue ext, and extra digital extension Final word unplug your handset plug your analogue handset into the wall do you have a dial tone 1. Yes ( then fault on cable between wall and handset) 2. No ( then fault in wire between system and frame or patch panel. peter (www.novacomms.net) Last edited by rivet : 05-08-2008 at 03:31 PM. |
