Question Is a SIP phone a SIP phone?

Hello,

I have a CIX 670 system, newly installed this month. I've been really disappointed in the WIP5000 Hitachi phones that they sold us. I wanted to try a different model, but this is the only one that my Toshiba dealer supports. So I decided to go out and buy a wireless SIP Phone of a different make and model and see if I could get it talking.

I went with the Linksys WIP330. This phone is awesome. I'm really close to getting it going on the Toshiba system. It registers just fine, dials and receives calls w/ caller ID attached. However, when I'm calling an extension, as soon as the extension answers, the phone drops the call. If I make an external call with the phone, it gets a fast busy immediately.

I'm wanting to say this has to be something as simple as an incorrect port setting, but I can't seem to fumble through it. So my question is, isn't a SIP phone a SIP phone? I should be able to get this phone working, right? Or has Toshiba done something to only allow their recommended phones to work?
