| I work for a small law firm. We have "centrex" (whatever that means) and currently have a Merlin phone system. Lease is up end of year so we are shopping. Phone company says we don't have 50% of our centrex active so we are going to lose our "reserved" lines. They want us to switch to T1, etc. but we don't really understand what they are saying. We have two separate rollover "sets". At night main number of 1 forwards to ans. serv. and main number of 2 forwards to owner's home. Could only do that with two "sets" apparently so that is how we ended up with two rollover groups. We all answer phone. Anyone not on the phone answers and helps client. I like to see what lines are ringing and if I put someone on hold be able to tell co-worker that they are holding on line X. This seems simple to me but is apparently beyond the comprehension of modern tele-speak. Is there a simple book or article somewhere that will help me up to speed to communicate with the various phone service/equipment vendors? lks |
