Virtuals don't enter the formula so just don't count them. The capacity of the system relates to the number of handsets it can actually drive so that is IP and legacy. Virtuals can appear on these but don't take up system capacity. There is a somewhat complicated capacity list in the system manual which shows 512 for legacy and 956 for IP but then gives a figure of 1020 as the max combined so you should be OK but for peace of mind you would be best off consulting with TAC (Technical assistance centre) or whatever the UK version is.

There is a limit to the number of virtuals you can have and that is 1000 (000 to 999) however as I said before I don't believe these count in working out the capacity. The thing that causes a lot of confusion is that we have always had Virtual extensions but then when they brought in IP they coined the phrase Virtual pim, it would have been better if they had used something like Phantom pim as we have been using the phantom term down here for years to describe programming extensions in pims that aren't physically present.
