I think it can only have a positive effect. Like most people, seeing or hearing the letter combination AOL makes me convulse and brings me to the verge of vomiting. It's kind of ironic that AOL sucks so much that even it's parent company is dropping it. AOL's success has been due to people who are new to the internet experience and don't know where else to start. Once users gain some internet savy, the quickly drop AOL for a real ISP. Pretty soon, however, there won't be a whole lot of people around who are unfamiliar with the internet. AOL will be really screwed then. Who knows, maybe one day all those trial CDs will be collectors items. |
