My 9/11 Reflections....

Hey All-

I've just ventured into the world of PBX as an administrator (in traning of sorts), and have stumbled upon an age old glitch. Just wondering if anyone knows of any patches or fixes for the problem:

Imagine a work area with four phones. Each has it's own unique extension. One phone is a communal "help-desk" line, and the other three are employee lines.

The way I have it setup is, if any employee has a message, their lamp is on. In addition, if there is a message on the "help-desk", all four message lamps come on.

Here's the trouble:

If there is a message on the "help desk" and on the employee line, all lights will light up (good). If someone retrieves the message on the help desk, from any phone, all lights go out (bad). Even though there is still a message on the employee line, the light goes out.

I know two work arounds... remove the light-broadcast feature, or have the employees check their messages. Neither are desireable, and the second isn't acceptable.

Anyone else seen this problem? Anyone else irritated with how antiquated Nortel/Meridian systems remain? Thanks!!
