| This is easy. Put a TN570 in slot 1A01 (existing cabinet) and another in slot 2A01 (new cabinet). On the rear of that card plug in a 9823x (more about that in a second). You will plug the pair of fiber strands into the fiber connectors. Make sure you roll the send and receive strands once. For the G3i there is no programming for an EPN. You can do this live all I would recommend is that the only cards seated in the EPN are the control cards, no station or trunk cards. If the PPN fails to see the EPN automatically, roll the send and receive strands. You will probably get a bunch of major and minor alarms but do not worry about them because they are not service affecting to your existing port network. About the 9823, the maximum range of a 9823A is 1.5km and the 9823B is 7.6km. You will be close to the limit for a 9823A. If your fiber run is 1km with 0db loss you can try the 9823A but you would be safer with a 9823B. Use the same transceiver at each end. __________________ Do not meddle in the affairs of dragons for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup. Marty |
