What you need to use will depend on what your long haul medium is, what kind of Definity you have, and how many modules it already has.

Rather than write a long, possibly confusing, essay covering all possible combinations, I will ask some questions first to see what you have. Then I can be specific.

1. Is your Definity a G3r or a G3i? If it is a G3r I will probably have a couple more questions depending on your following answers.

2. How many port networks does the switch already have?

3. Do you have fiber all the way to the remote cabinet or will you be using a T1 as the medium? Second part to this question, if it is fiber is it all multi-mode or is there some single-mode fiber in the path?

4. Is the remote cabinet an expansion cabinet or a processor cabinet?

Answer these questions and I can tell you how to do it. If it is multi-mode fiber all the way, you already have part of it wrong. You will need the long range transcievers. Those are 9823B not 9823A.
