As I understand it (and I'm a newbie as well), saved messages (messages that have been listened to and kept) are considered Old Messages by the system.

Also, it is possible to keep a message around for months by periodically listening to the message prior to expiration and saving it again, this resets the timer back to zero days.

Finally, you can modify an unused COS and increase the retention time all around to 20 days (or whatever you like, I believe the range is 0 to 999). Then assign the new COS to your "special users". Don't be surprised if, after a year, you're at 90% minutes used with an almost full hard drive.
