Hi All,

been a while since i've posted, but on these kinds of articles written by said "Electronic Adventurers" I've found it surprisingly common that most articles based on hacking such as this one may be classed is that the authors show a surprising knowledge of systems they have gotten into, and further the way that things are generally explained makes a lot of sense to someone who has NFI what there doing. (As i did)

They generally have no overhead in terms of corporate fluff (nor 1000 plus pages of appendices at the end), and i've read a few similar articles which explained how a legitamate user such as myself can get to grips with a new system (in my case when i was handed the meridian i work with now)

Now this is not to say the NTP's are not a complete and consice knowledge base of how to do everything on my phone system, but articles like this took the first couple of things i needed to learn (User wants new 3902 on ## desk by the end of the day, change phone name for ext ####) and makes them a little less daunting. I have now dealt with the wall of paper above my desk, all 20+ of them and have a good idea on everything i need to know to accomplish 95% of the day to day changes i'm asked to do, some from the kind assistance of others in the industry, through forums such as this one, some more from the NTP's and finally even a bit from articles such as the one you posted.

I had issues with login from the get go as i'd never done console based programming being taught using ASA for Avaya Definities, so it was a bit of a change for me to come to terms with. Nowdays i have gone and learn the console component of Avaya Site Administrator and only use the GUI component when training a colleague.
( I won't go back either )

Having said all that, if your at this point in my response, thanks for reading :> and thanks again for having such a wonderfully accesible forum with great insiteful information and even greater people to make sense of it with,

Cat
